Dr Yannan Jiang is a Senior Biostatistician at the National Institute for Health Innovation (NIHI) and on DIET Programme.

As part of the Nutrition Research team at NIHI, Yannan has led in trial design, statistical methodology, data analysis and report across a wide range of research projects. They include the Supermarket Healthy Options Project (SHOP), Breakfast in Schools Intervention Trial (BISkIT), and New Horizons for Weight Loss using Mobile Technologies (Horizon).

Yannan is a Senior Research Fellow of the University of Auckland, and Senior Consultant of the Statistical Consulting Centre in the Department of Statistics. She is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), and also a member of the New Zealand Statistical Association (NZSA) and the Society for Clinical Trials (SCT).

Yannan is interested in innovative approaches for design and analysis of clinical trials as well as developing alternative methods for dealing with environmental intervention studies. She has played a leading role in developing strong public relations with statisticians and researchers within the area of health research in China, and successfully promoted collaboration with the School of Public Health, Peking University in China. Her current research areas include nutrition and physical activity, smoking cessation, cluster randomised trial design, national survey design and analysis, Phase II/III drug trials, case-control studies with response-selective sampling and missing data problems.
