Boyd Swinburn is the Professor of Population Nutrition and Global Health at the University of Auckland and Honorary Professor at the Global Obesity Centre (GLOBE), Deakin University in Melbourne. Boyd is a member of the DIET Programme Governance Group and is a Co- investigator on the Advocacy projects.

Trained as a specialist endocrinologist, Boyd has conducted research in metabolic, clinical and public health aspects of obesity. His major research interests are centered on community and policy actions to prevent childhood and adolescent obesity, and reduce, what he has coined, the ‘obesogenic’ food environment.

He is Co-Chair of World Obesity’s Policy and Prevention Section and is Co-Chair of the Lancet Commission on Obesity.
